Campaign 4 opens in Dol-Makjar with the execution of Thjazi Fang, the failure of a secret rescue plan and a crowded Farramh that draws together family, veterans, nobles, arcanists and agents of older powers. By the episode’s end, Thjazi’s death has exposed political conspiracies, a stolen sacred relic, a violated funerary protection and a silver box that reacts to the name of his missing fairy companion.

Thjazi Fang is hanged beneath monuments to the heroes of an older revolution. The crowd, the failed rescue and the Photarch’s decision leave more questions than the public ceremony answers.

What did Thjazi see above the Guardian Wall, and why did it frighten him?
Thjazi looks towards the sky. Whatever he sees causes his confident expression to change into panic, but Halandil cannot identify the cause from within the crowd.
Who compromised the rescue, what did Azune detect on Thjazi, and is Cyd’s disappearance part of the same sabotage?
Azune detects traces of conjuration and illusion magic near the back of Thjazi’s coat and signals that the apparent ward is present.
Despite the detected magic and the apparent readiness of the plan, Thjazi remains on the gallows and is hanged.
Thaisha and Occtis discuss the failed rescue while approaching the Fang home. Thaisha says that someone who was supposed to be present was absent and that they need to question Azune and Thimble.
After recognising one another at the Farramh, Teor and Azune acknowledge that they both have unanswered questions concerning Thjazi’s execution and the events surrounding it.
Azune reveals that Cyd Pridesire was supposed to participate in the rescue attempt. Cyd’s failure to appear may be connected to the plan’s collapse.
Halandil reveals that Wicander’s assurance of political clemency was one of the protections intended to save Thjazi if the active escape plan failed. Wicander claims that his family had fully promised Thjazi would be spared, but the Photarch reversed or ignored that assurance.
Azune says that he performed the planned magical scan and believes Thimble successfully completed her part involving the escape glyph. This suggests that the failure occurred later in the rescue chain.
Occtis reveals that Thjazi never arrived at the extraction point. As a result, the stage involving Occtis and Thaisha never began.
Azune, Occtis, and Teor leave the Farramh to search the secret flophouse where Thimble prepared the glyph, hoping to discover which part of the rescue chain broke.
The discovery of Thimble’s ransacked hideout indicates that the rescue plan may have been actively compromised rather than simply failing through miscommunication or absence.
Azune confirms that the ceramic rune found beside Thimble is the genuine escape glyph. His earlier scan therefore detected a different object concealed upon Thjazi.
The survivors establish that Thimble would plant the glyph, Azune would manipulate the inspection, Cyd would position Casimir’s wagon, and Thaisha and Occtis would complete the extraction. The plan failed before its first physical stage because Thimble was attacked before delivering the glyph.
What political, religious, personal or strategic reason made Thjazi’s death necessary to the Photarch?
Wicander expects Thjazi’s sentence to be commuted, but the Photarch abruptly tells him that Thjazi must die without explaining her reason.
Wicander’s father supports the decision and claims that Thjazi’s death will teach Wicander important lessons in the nights and days ahead.
Wicander tells Halandil that his family gave him full assurance that Thjazi would be spared. He cannot explain why the Photarch instead insisted that the execution proceed.
What prevented Cyd from reaching the rescue, and where is he now?
Azune remembers that Cyd was supposed to participate in the attempt to rescue Thjazi.
Teor expected to find Cyd at the execution, but neither he nor Azune has seen him. Azune abruptly leaves their conversation to investigate.
Azune tells Occtis that Cyd was supposed to assist with the rescue. Cyd’s disappearance is now recognised as one of several missing links between the glyph stage and the extraction that never began.
The survivors establish that Cyd’s precise role was to move Casimir’s wagon into position so that Thjazi could teleport inside it. Cyd’s disappearance therefore removed a critical stage of the extraction plan.
Where did Thimble go after failing to appear at the execution?
Azune and Occtis realise that neither of them saw Thimble during Thjazi’s execution.
Azune, Occtis, and Teor travel to Thimble’s secret flophouse in the Tanners to determine whether she is there and what happened to the escape plan.
Teor follows the scent of honeysuckle and a fading otherworldly light to a drainage grate, where he finds Thimble unconscious and critically injured.
Who ordered the attack, who wore the fine boots, and how did the attackers learn the hideout and timing?
Teor discovers fresh blood beneath the secret doorway that someone had attempted to clean away.
Blood patterns upon the staircase indicate that one or more bodies were dragged out of the apartment after the attack.
Thimble is found critically injured inside a drainage grate, with her weapons scattered beyond her reach.
Thimble remembers masked figures entering shortly before she was due to deliver the escape glyph. Their timing indicates prior knowledge of the rescue operation.
Thimble remembers killing at least three masked attackers. None of their bodies remains, confirming that surviving members or accomplices deliberately cleared the scene.
Kattigan discovers crow feathers carrying scents associated with the Crow Keepers. The evidence strongly suggests that members of the thieves’ guild participated in the attack.
Six attackers wore old, damaged footwear, while the seventh wore finely made boots. This may indicate that an employer, officer or outside participant accompanied the Crow Keepers.
The attackers removed the Stone of Nightsong and other magical objects from the hideout. It remains unclear whether stealing the relic was their primary objective or opportunistic theft after attacking Thimble.
Who stole the Stone from Thimble’s hideout, where is it now and why was this funerary relic targeted?
Occtis remembers that the Stone was an elven artefact used during the Shapers’ War, but cannot recall what it did.
The Stone’s display case was shattered and the relic removed during the attack upon the hideout.
Vaelus arrives from the Mournvale and claims that Thjazi stole the Stone of Nightsong from her. She also knows that Thimble travelled with him and was present when it was taken.
Bolaire recalls that the Stone carried elven spirits safely through the Tenebral Reaches to Sylandri’s Garden of the Spirit.
The Stone was created after Sylandri’s original nightingale guardian was destroyed during the Shapers’ War.

After Julien secretly spits upon Thjazi’s body, Bolaire perceives that the Old Path protection created by the mourners’ offerings has been crossed.

Vaelus identifies Sylandri as the fallen Goddess of Life, Green Mother and Shaper of the Elves.
Vaelus remembers watching the final god of Aramán die seventy years earlier, but the place, cause and killer are not revealed.
How did Dol-Makjar change from the city Teor remembers, and what remains of its revolutionary institutions and ideals?
Thjazi’s execution causes Teor to question what happened to the Revolutionary Council, Pariah Blades and revolutionary identity he remembers.

Teor saves the critically injured Thimble from death. After awakening and learning of Thjazi’s execution, Thimble reveals that she was attacked before delivering the escape glyph, while Azune confirms that the real glyph remains inside the hideout.

The colourful dwarven arcanist Murray Mag’Nesson arrives late to Thjazi’s Farramh with cranberry rolls and Yahrgraz. Her presence reveals the magical underworld and unconventional associates surrounding Thjazi during the final years of his life.
