Age of Umbra: Sallowlands is Critical Role’s new six-part Daggerheart miniseries, taking a fresh group of survivors into a previously unseen region of the Halcyon Domain.
The story is already underway, but it has been designed as a standalone entry point. Viewers do not need to watch the 2025 Age of Umbra miniseries before beginning this one.
Here is the cast, premise, weekly schedule and the simplest way to watch from the United Kingdom.
What is Age of Umbra: Sallowlands?
Sallowlands is a dark-fantasy actual-play series run by Matthew Mercer using Daggerheart. It is set in the same abandoned, decaying world as the first Age of Umbra, but follows different characters through a new region and tells a self-contained story.
The Sallowlands are cracked badlands formed in the dry bed of a colossal ancient lake. Rumours of a newly appeared city draw five misfits into a search for safety and answers, with ancient horrors waiting beyond the Sacred Pyres.
Critical Role describes the tone as grim and the odds as daunting, but not without hope. The miniseries also uses some mechanics from the forthcoming Daggerheart: Hope & Fear expansion.

The cast and characters
Matthew Mercer serves as Game Master. The five players and their characters are:
- Jennifer English as Dillywin Hellekin
- Abubakar Salim as Mercy
- Laura Bailey as Sister
- Zachery Renauldo as Alphonse
- Vico Ortiz as Cagauma
The group is separate from the first Age of Umbra party, reinforcing that this is a new story rather than a required continuation.
When does Sallowlands air?
New episodes air on Thursdays at 7pm Pacific through 13 August 2026.
For UK viewers, the live broadcast begins at 3am BST on Friday morning. That makes the public YouTube VOD, released the following Monday at 8pm BST, the more convenient option for most viewers.

Beacon
Beacon receives the VOD as soon as each episode airs. Subscribers also receive the podcast immediately and can watch the exclusive Age of Umbra Cooldown, which records the cast’s reactions directly after the game.
Twitch and YouTube live
Episodes stream live on Critical Role’s Twitch and YouTube channels every Thursday at 7pm Pacific. Twitch also carries a Friday rebroadcast.
Public YouTube VOD
The free public VOD arrives on the Monday following each episode at noon Pacific, or 8pm in the United Kingdom while British Summer Time is in effect.
Podcast
The public podcast is divided into two parts. Part one releases on the Thursday after an episode premieres, followed by part two on Tuesday.
Do you need to watch the first Age of Umbra?
No. Both of Critical Role’s official announcements describe Sallowlands as a standalone adventure requiring no previous knowledge.
The earlier miniseries establishes the wider Halcyon Domain: a world rotting after its gods abandoned it. Watching it may add background and tone, but Sallowlands introduces its own region, party and central mystery.
That makes Episode 1 the intended starting point for anyone interested in this cast or in seeing Daggerheart used for a focused six-part dark-fantasy story.

On the announced weekly Thursday schedule, the six episodes run on:
