The Attempted Mercanaud Procedure on Teor
Rulius and Calastro Mercanaud paralyse Teor and begin cutting apart his shadow before Tyranny deceives them into cancelling the Halovar assignment.
Overview
After House Halovar appoints Teor as Wicander’s guardian errant, he is sent to Mercanaud Couturier under the pretext of being outfitted. The twins Rulius and Calastro use sapphire orchid incense, magic and paralysis to immobilise him. By the time Wicander and Tyranny arrive, Calastro has begun cutting Teor’s shadow into pieces within a nine-pointed ritual arrangement. Tyranny falsely claims that Halovar authority has reassigned Teor and convinces the Mercanauds to cancel the procedure. The archive records the attempt as a Halovar-directed action because Yanessa tells Wicander that Teor has already been dealt with and Tyranny knows where he would have been sent; the exact intended final effect of the ritual remains unknown.
