Introduction
The central mechanism of the Prismatic Retort is revealed to be an iron maiden imprisoning a thirty-foot celestial. His featherless wings are spread against the machine, chains hold his head and body in place and taps draw luminous blood that becomes Filament. He screams, claws against the restraints and displays rows of unpointed teeth. Photarch Yanessa tells Wicander that the captive is his grandfather.
