When the Balor dies, it explodes.
Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 20, each creature in a 30-foot Emanation originating from the Balor.
Failure: 31 (9d6) fire damage plus 31 (9d6) Force damage.
Success: Half damage.
Failure or Success: If the Balor dies outside the Abyss, it gains a new body instantly, reviving with all its Hit Points somewhere in the Abyss.
As the Balor’s colossal form collapses, its body erupts in a cataclysmic explosion. Fire and force ripple outward in a blinding, concussive wave, scorching the earth and hurling debris in all directions. The air ignites, ash and embers swirling violently, and any who linger too close are seared and battered by the unleashed fury.
Even in death, the demon’s essence refuses to fade. If it falls beyond the Abyss, its form begins to tear and reform, molten and crackling, until it rises once more in the depths of its hellish domain, whole and roaring, ready to rend the world again.
Fire Aura
At the end of each of the Balor’s turns, each creature in a 5-foot Emanation originating from the Balor takes 13 (3d8) Fire damage.
Heat radiates in waves from the balor’s massive frame, a constant, oppressive blaze that warps the air around it. Sparks drift from its burning skin and smoldering wings, licking at the feet of anyone daring to come close. The fire is relentless but disciplined, singeing armor, hair, and flesh alike, leaving scorched air and the scent of brimstone in its wake.
Legendary Resistance
If the Balor fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead (3/Day).
Even when caught in the grip of magic or overwhelming force, the balor’s will is a storm unto itself. With a roar of defiance, it bends reality to its intent, shrugging off spells and effects that would fell lesser beings, standing resolute and unbroken against attempts to restrain or control it.

The Balor makes 1 Flame Whip attack and 1 Lightning Blade attack.
With a roar that splits the air like a thunderclap, the balor moves in a blur of colossal violence. Its blazing whip lashes outward first — a streak of incandescent flame that cracks across the battlefield, detonating on impact and dragging its prey helplessly through sparks and ash.
Before the echoes of that strike fade, the demon pivots with terrifying speed. In its other hand, a blade of condensed lightning carves a searing arc through the air, the thunderous strike exploding on contact as crackling energy courses through flesh and armor alike. The ground blackens, the air stinks of ozone and brimstone, and for a heartbeat the world is nothing but fire, storm, and overwhelming wrath.
Flame Whip
Melee Attack Roll: +14, reach 30 ft.
Hit: 18 (3d6 + 8) force damage plus 17 (5d6) fire damage. If the target is a Huge or smaller creature, the Balor pulls the target up to 25 feet straight toward itself, and the target has the Prone condition.
The Balor snaps its wrist, and a lash of living flame uncoils through the air with a deafening crack. The whip streaks outward in a blazing line, its incandescent length hissing as it tears through space. When it strikes, fire erupts on impact, exploding in a burst of searing heat that scorches armor and flesh alike.
The flaming cord then tightens, heat intensifying as it coils and sears, dragging its victim violently across the battlefield toward the towering fiend. Sparks scatter in its wake, and the scent of ash and brimstone lingers where the whip has passed.
Lightning Blade
Melee Attack Roll: +14, reach 10 ft.
Hit: 21 (3d8 + 8) force damage plus 22 (4d10) lightning damage, and the target can't take Reactions until the start of the Balor's next turn.
The Balor’s hand ignites as arcs of lightning dance along the edge of its blade, crackling and singing through the air. With a violent swing, the weapon cleaves forward, leaving a trail of blinding light and scorching energy. The strike lands with a thunderous impact, forcing the target to stagger as raw lightning and concussive force tear through armor and sinew.
Crackling energy leaps from the blade, arcing to nearby surfaces as the air vibrates with electric fury. The target reels, unable to react, as the Balor’s storm-forged strike leaves both pain and awe in its wake.
Bonus Actions
Teleport
The Balor teleports itself or a willing creature within 10 feet of itself up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space the Balor can see.
In a flash of fiery light and crackling energy, the balor blurs from one spot to another, leaving behind only scorched air and the scent of ozone. Reality seems to tear for an instant as it reappears, instantaneously closing distances or appearing where its enemies least expect, its movements impossible to track.
