Medium fey, Lawful Good
A fey hound of uncanny loyalty. This CR 1/4 trickster blinks in and out of existence mid-combat, making it nearly impossible to pin down despite its humble stat block.
Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft.
Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) Piercing damage.
The Blink Dog teleports up to 40 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.
Official D&D 5th Edition creature from the System Reference Document 5.2. Stats, abilities, and descriptions are faithful to the original SRD text.
The Teleport bonus action is everything. On its turn the Blink Dog can bite and then vanish, meaning melee enemies almost never get a clean Opportunity Attack against it. Position it to harass rather than tank — it should never stand still.
The recharge on Teleport (4–6) means it won't always be available. On turns it can't teleport, the Blink Dog is suddenly vulnerable, and smart players will press that advantage.
It's Lawful Good and understands Sylvan and Elvish — it's not a mindless beast. It can be reasoned with, befriended, or used as a contact for Fey-connected NPCs. Consider giving it a name and a personality if it appears more than once.
Works best in packs or alongside a Fey encounter rather than solo — at CR 1/4 a single Blink Dog is a nuisance, but three coordinating around a party is genuinely disruptive.
